Attorney Gina M. Wicik is the founder of the Law Office of Gina M. Wicik, P.C., a criminal defense law firm representing clients in New York and New Jersey.

Her legal background includes experience with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, an Acting Supreme Court Justice, and a New York City traffic-violations law firm. This experience gives her practical knowledge of criminal proceedings, courtroom procedure, traffic adjudications, and the legal issues that can affect a defense case.

Education

Gina M. Wicik earned her Juris Doctor from Touro Law Center in 2015.

Before attending law school, she earned a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, in 2011 and a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University in 2007.

Her education in criminal justice and law provided the foundation for a career focused on protecting the rights of individuals facing criminal charges, DWI or DUI allegations, and serious traffic violations.

Legal
Experience

Before becoming an attorney, Gina worked as a certified paralegal for personal injury and criminal defense law firms. This experience gave her an early understanding of case preparation, client communication, and the effect a legal proceeding can have on a client and the client’s family.

While attending law school, Gina interned with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. These positions allowed her to observe how prosecutors evaluate criminal charges, evidence, plea negotiations, and potential case resolutions.

Gina also interned under an Acting Supreme Court Justice and participated in the early development of the Suffolk County Youth Felony Part. That experience provided additional insight into courtroom procedure and the judicial decision-making process.

After becoming an attorney, Gina worked as an associate for a New York City traffic-violations law firm. She appeared regularly in New York City traffic courts and handled matters in criminal courts throughout New York State.

Gina later founded the Law Office of Gina M. Wicik, P.C. to provide clients with direct, accessible, and strategic legal representation. Clients work directly with Gina as she evaluates their cases, explains their options, and advocates for their interests.

Criminal Defense Representation

Gina M. Wicik represents individuals facing misdemeanor and felony charges in New York and New Jersey.

Her criminal defense practice includes matters involving:

  • Assault and violent-offense allegations
  • Domestic violence allegations
  • Drug possession and related offenses
  • Theft and shoplifting charges
  • Weapons-possession charges
  • Desk appearance tickets
  • Disorderly persons offenses in New Jersey
  • DWI, DUI, and impaired-driving allegations
  • Driver’s license and traffic-related offenses

Every case involves different facts, evidence, procedures, and potential consequences. Gina evaluates each case individually instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all defense.

Her review may include examining the circumstances of an arrest, the legality of a vehicle stop or search, witness statements, police reports, body-camera footage, chemical-test records, discovery materials, and whether law enforcement followed the required procedures.

No attorney can guarantee a particular result. Gina’s objective is to identify the strongest available defenses and pursue the most favorable lawful outcome supported by the facts.

DWI, DUI and Traffic Defense

Gina represents motorists facing DWI and DUI allegations, chemical-test refusal proceedings, speeding tickets, cellphone tickets, reckless-driving allegations, aggravated unlicensed operation charges, and other traffic violations.

Traffic and impaired-driving cases can affect more than the amount of a fine. Depending on the charge and the driver’s history, the consequences may include points, insurance increases, assessments, license suspension or revocation, employment difficulties, probation, and possible incarceration.

Gina explains these potential consequences and helps clients understand the difference between proceedings in criminal court, New York City’s Traffic Violations Bureau, local New York traffic courts, and New Jersey municipal courts.
